🌍 About Me
Hi, I’m Dirco Haasbroek — a creative thinker, problem solver, and lifelong learner with a passion for technology, hospitality, and all things hands-on.
I was born in Olifantshoek, South Africa, and grew up in Bloemfontein, where I attended Fichardt Park Primary and Secondary School. During the final years of my primary education, my family spent a year in Cape Town, where I had the privilege of attending Welgemoed Primary. After returning to Bloemfontein, I completed my matric at Fichardt Park Secondary School — a place that helped shape my curiosity and drive to create.
🏨 From Hospitality to Innovation
After school, I began working in our family’s guesthouse, Lala Dene Lodge, where I learned firsthand how attention to detail, warmth, and service can transform a simple stay into a memorable experience.
Two years later, while helping with our estate agency in Mossel Bay, I developed a custom software system to streamline our operations — a project that marked the beginning of my journey into software development. It was here that my fascination with technology and automation truly took root.
Even after returning to manage the lodge, I continued to pursue web development and digital maintenance in my spare time — balancing my love for hospitality with my growing passion for building online systems that make life easier and more efficient.
💃 A Life with Rhythm
In my late twenties, I discovered another passion — social dancing. I joined Dancesation, a dance school in Bloemfontein, where I trained in Latin and Ballroom styles and later qualified as a social dance instructor.
Teaching and performing became a joyful part of my life, offering not just creativity and fitness but also a sense of community. Many of my evenings and weekends were spent dancing, performing, and helping others find confidence through movement.
💻 Today — Blending Tech, Travel & Creativity
I’ve since relocated to Jeffreys Bay, where I now focus on web development, automation, and digital systems — helping businesses, especially those in the hospitality industry, simplify their operations, enhance their online presence, and connect directly with their customers.
I still manage reservations for Lala Dene Lodge, combining my understanding of guest expectations with my technical expertise to find ways that technology can make life easier, smarter, and more enjoyable.
Whether it’s developing a new digital tool, designing a website, or experimenting with a DIY automation project, I’m driven by one simple idea:
To create practical, human-centered technology that improves everyday life and makes work feel a little more like play.
